Colleagues, It is hard to believe summer is already starting to come to a close! But this also means it is time to prepare to submit Abstracts for poster and oral sessions and for Travel and Young investigator awards for our upcoming SfRBM 2022 meeting in Orlando!! The deadline for abstract submissions is September 7 and is coming up very quickly. We hope to see all your best and most exciting work to celebrate our first live annual meeting in 3 years. And while we certainly hope that most of you can join us in person in November, we will also make recorded content available for purchase and viewing in December for those who are unable to attend. 

We have planned a very exciting Program for the 2022 Annual Meeting. First, as an alternative to our Workshop this year, we are beginning with a session entitled "New Horizons in Redox Biology: Mitochondria and Thiols" that showcases exciting new work from our early to midcareer members and some invite speakers new to our society. We have several other revealing sessions planned to highlight the role of redox in metabolism, mitochondria, inflammation, membranes and human diseases including cancer and cardiovascular disease. Please see the session details SfRBM: Conference Program for more information. And as always, we will start our days with the Sunrise Free Radical School session each morning. This is such an important part of both our history and the future of our society.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Dr. Ohara Augusto. She will receive her award and present a special lecture during the conference in Orlando entitled "From O2 to NO Meeting CO2". Be sure not to miss this important event!

With the annual meeting just around the corner, I would also like to put out a reminder that SfRBM is looking for hosts for the 2023 Regional Redox Symposium. The target dates for the symposia are May-June 2023 with a meeting size of approximately 100-125 attendees. Many of you will have attended previous conferences including the most recent one held at The University of Iowa and know the value of these small-targeted conferences. If you are interested in partnering with SfRBM to host one of these conferences, please contact Maria Clara Franco, Regional Meetings Committee Chair at maria.franco@oregonstate.edu and Kent Lindeman, SfRBM's Executive Director at klindeman@hollandparlette.com.

One final important note. You should have received an email announcing the Council Elections are currently underway. It is so very important for our society that you make your voices heard. Please review the candidates and vote!!
