FAQs for Oral and Poster Presenters

When are the oral presentations from submitted abstracts scheduled?

All oral presentations will be prerecorded and available in the conference platform starting on the day they are scheduled for presentation.  SfRBM will be providing 1 hour of conference time Wednesday, November 18 through Friday, November 20 (3:30 pm – 4:30 pm US Eastern; 8:30 pm – 9:30 pm UTC) where we will prompt attendees to view oral presentations in the themes relating to that day’s plenary lectures and upcoming posters.  The schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, November 18   (3:30 pm – 4:30 pm US Eastern)
Chemical Biology, Inflammation & Immunity
(13 oral presentations)

Thursday, November 19  (3:30 pm – 4:30 pm US Eastern)
Cancer, Metabolism/Bioenergetics, Environmental Toxicology/Pharmacology
(15 oral presentations)

Friday, November 20  (3:30 pm – 4:30 pm US Eastern)
Cardiovascular & Pulmonary, Aging, Neurodegenerative Disease
(17 oral presentations)

I am submitting an oral presentation – since it is prerecorded, how will attendees be able to interact with me and ask questions?

We are asking oral presenters to be logged into their account on the virtual conference platform during the 1 hour that their set of presentations are scheduled to be “officially” viewed (see above).  During that time, attendees will watch your session and then be able to pose any questions they have via text chat after which you will reply directly in real time.  Attendees will also be able to text questions for you to answer even if they don’t watch your presentation during the formal presentation window.  We ask oral presenters to log into the platform each day of the conference to see what questions are waiting and respond within 24 hours.

When will poster presentations from submitted abstracts be scheduled?

All poster presentations will be available in the conference platform starting Monday, November 16.  Posters can be viewed on demand at any time, however we will be providing 75 minutes of conference time Wednesday, November 18 through Friday, November 20 (4:30 pm – 5:45 pm US Eastern; 9:30 pm – 10:45 pm UTC) where we will prompt attendees to view posters in the themes relating to that day’s plenary lectures and oral presentations.  The schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, November 18  (4:30 pm – 5:45 pm US Eastern)
Chemical Biology, Inflammation & Immunity

Thursday, November 19  (4:30 pm – 5:45 pm US Eastern)
Cancer, Metabolism/Bioenergetics, Environmental Toxicology/Pharmacology

Friday, November 20  (4:30 pm – 5:45 pm US Eastern)
Cardiovascular & Pulmonary, Aging, Neurodegenerative Disease

Do I need to be logged into the conference platform during the formal poster presentation time?

Yes, please be logged into your account on the virtual conference platform during the 75 minutes that your poster is scheduled to be “officially” viewed (see above).  During that time, attendees will view your poster and listen to the accompanying audio narration that you provided.  During the formal presentation period, they will be able to pose any questions they have via video chat in our platform.  Attendees will also be able to pose questions for you to answer via text chat even if they don’t watch your presentation during the formal presentation window.  We ask poster presenters to log into the platform each day of the conference to see what questions are waiting and respond within 24 hours.

My work is being considered for a Young Investigator Award (YIA) and will be judged during the conference.  What do I need to know to prepare for this?

Make sure that you are logged into the conference platform during your formal presentation time as judges are most likely to communicate with you during that window.

Please note that some judging will be done asynchronously given the virtual platform, so judges may be posing questions before or after your presentation times as well via text chat.  Please respond to those questions as soon as possible but definitely within 24 hours.  If you are a poster presenter eligible for a Young Investigator Award, we ask you to please record a short audio narration of your work (up to 5-7 minutes max – you can record it right in our conference platform) so that judges can listen to this as they evaluate your presentation and ask important follow up questions.
