Description

Our laboratory is investigating how glutathione-induced post-translational modification of protein cysteines (S-glutathionylation) contributes to the pathogenesis of chronic lung diseases, notably lung fibrosis. We have used redox proteomics studies and identified a number of S-glutathionylation targets in key proteostasis pathways.

A position for a post-doctoral associate is available to delve into mechanistic details whereby oxidative modification of key cysteine targets governs proteostasis in settings of aging-associated lung fibrosis.

The applicant will work in a vibrant transdisciplinary research environment and will have an opportunity to work with gene-editing to remove key cysteines or change their oxidation sensitivity. He/she/they also with work with primary lung epithelial organoid cultures, thiol-targeted drug development, and mouse models of disease.

The environment at the University of Vermont is highly collegial, promotes team work and mentoring. It strongly supports career advancement of all trainees.
