The Department of Environmental Health Sciences (EHS) within the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work (RSCPHSW) at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The Department of EHS addresses health effects related to environmental exposures through research, education, and service in order to promote healthier lives. The EHS department includes seven tenure-earning or tenured faculty and several research faculty with research expertise in cancer, stem cell and neurodegenerative diseases. Excellent collaboration opportunities exist within the EHS department and throughout the RSCPHSW as well as with the Academic Health Center.

Applicants should have a Ph.D., M.D., or the equivalent in a biomedical related subject. The successful candidate will have a record of scholarship and demonstrated success in extramurally funded research as well as experience in teaching and mentorship. Proven ability to conduct innovative and/or state-of-the art research is required. With the Brain, Behavior and the Environment as the new Emerging Preeminent Program, the EHS Department is particularly interested in studies on the role of exposure to environmental pollutants across the lifespan on neurological, neurodegenerative and mental disease. The selected candidate will pursue the opportunity to participate in ongoing research with multidisciplinary researchers, and will be expected to develop and maintain an original, creative, and independent research program with evidence of high quality and productivity. This requires publications in high impact peer-reviewed journals and demonstrating the potential for successful submission and management of investigator-initiated grant proposals. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the educational mission of the RSCPHSW through teaching and advising Master's and Doctoral students.
