The program, co-sponsored by the American Physiological Society (APS) and the Society for Redox Biology and Medicine (SfRBM), will highlight cutting-edge science and new advances in areas related to physiology and redox biology. While both of these fields are broad, this session and corresponding poster session will narrow the focus to studies involving redox biology in the following major physiological categories: Cardiovascular, Clinical/Translational studies, Gastrointestinal, Inflammation and Immunity, Metabolism and Bioenergetics, Musculoskeletal/Exercise Physiology, Neuroscience, Renal/Urinary, and Respiratory.

Chairs: Adam Case, Ph.D., University of Nebraska Medical Center & Brant Isakson, Ph.D., University of Virginia

Speakers include: Rakesh Patel, Ph.D., University of Alabama at Birmingham & Gabor Csanyi, Ph.D., Medical College of Georgia - Augusta University

Sessions include:

  • Augmenting nitric oxide bioavailability using nitrite and nitrate: mechanisms and therapeutic considerations
  • Redox regulation of macropinocytosis and its implications in atherosclerosis
  • Talks selected from submitted abstracts
